In the Game Production program at IADT – Las Vegas, students can learn a variety of design techniques, develop computer programming skills, and utilize the latest technology. Our Game Production classes are designed to provide students with a well-rounded education to help prepare them to pursue entry-level career opportunities in the game industry. A few of the Game Production courses offered at IADT – Las Vegas:
Interactive Media Design
This Game Design course examines interactive media design strategies using selected software and scripting languages. Students have the opportunity to create animated and interactive graphical elements for digital media, Internet, and game design projects. Students are expected to develop interactive web sites, dynamic Web content, streaming media, 2D computer animation, and digital media applications using integrated audio, video, graphic and textual content.
Artificial Intelligence
In this Game Production class, students can examine the programming of intelligent behaviors for gaming opponents. Students will have the opportunity to create pursuit and avoidance algorithms, design AI paths, write collision detection scripts, and develop varying levels of aggression for non player entities.
Multiplayer Gaming & Networking
This Game Production class examines the construction of interactive 3D game environments that function across networks and multiple platforms in real-time. Topics include network programming concepts, client/server networking and data exchange, database design, OpenGL, applets, sockets, and network-related objects in Java.
Game Design Project II
This Game Design course involves the planning, design and construction of a real-time 3D game prototype. Students work collaboratively within a simulated game development studio to create media assets and programming scripts according to project guidelines for integration into a game engine. Beta testing, troubleshooting, and game refinement techniques are discussed.
Digital Audio for Gaming
This Game Production class serves as an introduction to digital audio production and post-production technology for computer games. Students have the opportunity to learn principles, equipment and software used to record and edit sound, and examine various digital audio compression and distribution formats. Sound theory, lip-synching, Foley sound, and audio reproduction techniques will be explored.
